Liverpool have joined the race for Nice midfielder Jean Seri after scrutinising the Ivory Coast star closely in the last month.

Kop scouts have been watching the energetic 26-year-old star as Jurgen Klopp looks to beef up his midfield options this summer.

Manchester United had been checking Seri but boss Jose Mourinho has reservations believing the 5 foot 6 inch African star lacks the physicality he prefers in his players.

Mourinho hasn't shut the door on a potential deal for the £32 million rated star but United are believed to have other targets they are also monitoring.

Seri, likened by many to Chelsea star N'Golo Kante, maybe small but he's attracted big attention with Arsenal also on his trail.

But Liverpool have emerged as newcomers to the chase with Jurgen Klopp's scouts at Nice's win over Lille on Friday night as well as the recent draw with Nantes.
