Liverpool have been rejected in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore.

The Argentinian star has been out of favour under Unai Emery and looks set for the exit.

The Reds and Tottenham have been knocked back after submitting offers totalling between €25-40m, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Inter Milan are now in pole position for Pastore, who wants to return to Italian football after making his name with Palermo.

Gremio forward Luan has spoken out over claims he could sign for Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Unconfirmed reports emerged this week that the Reds were considering activating the £15.75million release clause in the young Brazilian's contract.

Luan, who has netted 18 times in 51 appearances for the Brazilian club, would provide Liverpool with some extra firepower going into the latter half of the season.

But the player confirmed that, as things stand, Liverpool have not made as approach for his services.
