Manchester United and Liverpool are battling for the signature of Turkish sensation Yusuf Yazici.

The Trabzonspor midfielder has captured the attention of the Premier League duo after rising to prominence at his boyhood club.

Yazici netted six times and provided 10 assists for his side last season and after breaking into the first team he has alerted a host of top European clubs.

Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund, along with Liverpool and United, are monitoring his progress.

The 20-year-old was linked with a switch to Liverpool in the summer but a move never materialised.

But if the Reds renew their interest in January they face tough competition from Jose Mourinho’s side and Fanatik suggest Liverpool and United could both make their moves for the £12million-rated star.

Trabzonspor are desperate to keep hold of their young talent though with Yazici under contract until 2022.

The Turkish club's president Muharram Usta is reluctant to sell the Turkey international anytime soon.

He said: "I want to see Yusuf here for our 50th year anniversary squad.

"He will be sold when the time is right, Yusuf will be an ambassador for the club and reach the highest level."

Yazici made his international debut for Turkey earlier this summer in a 4-1 World Cup qualification win over Kosovo, registering the assist for their fourth goal.
