Liverpool have reportedly shown an interest in signing Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams, but will face competition from rivals Everton.

The 22-year-old has made steady progress in the early part of his career, scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists in 69 appearances in all competitions for the senior side.

He’s yet to find the back of the net so far this season, but according to Don Balon, that hasn’t put off Jurgen Klopp from expressing an interest in the Spaniard.

The report goes on to make a strong argument as to why Williams would be perfect for the Premier League given his power and pace, while they also note that Klopp is still ultimately looking to sign young players with big futures and so the Bilbao ace fits the bill.

However, the German tactician isn’t the only one reportedly keen on signing him, with Don Balon adding that Everton are also looking at strengthening their attacking options, but with the interest from England in mind, Bilbao will be reassured by the fact that there is a €50m release clause in place.

Further, a renewal could be agreed which would raise that fee as per the report, and in turn make it even more difficult for the two Premier League outfits to meet their demands.

Williams will also be appealing to Klopp and Ronald Koeman given his versatility, with an ability to play on either wing as well as through the middle.

Combine that with his pace, strength and an eye for goal that he has, he certainly has plenty of talent that can be developed and nurtured, and perhaps a move to Merseyside will allow him to take his game to the next level.
