Atalanta’s 3-0 win at Anfield last week was the fourth time Liverpool have lost a European first-leg tie at home – and they will be aiming to come back and reach the next round for the first time.

This is the Reds’ 28th European quarter-final and if they can achieve a turnaround, would reach a 21st semi-final, extending their British record.

Doing so would also see Jürgen Klopp set a new club record of five European semi-finals as manager, exceeding the four each of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.

Klopp will take charge of Liverpool for the 91st time in European competition.

Only Wataru Endo has started all nine of the Reds’ Europa League games this season. Gomez, Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez have also featured in them all.

Nunez has scored nine goals in 17 European appearances for Liverpool. The fastest to 10 goals for the club are Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah (13 games), Robbie Fowler (16) and Roger Hunt (18).

In Europe this season, Atalanta have won three and drawn one of four home games, conceding two goals in that quartet of matches.

The Serie A side have played 20 times at home so far this season, winning 14 and drawing three. They have won nine of their last 11 home games in all competitions.
