Andy Robertson can add Kenny Dalglish to his ever-growing list of fans.

The Liverpool left-back is enjoying an excellent second half of the season after patiently waiting for an opportunity following his move to the club from Hull City last summer.

Robertson has started 22 of the Reds’ past 27 matches as Jürgen Klopp’s side marched into the semi-finals of the Champions League and established a strong position in the Premier League top four.

The Scotland international regularly hears his name sung at Anfield and now one of his predecessors, Dalglish no less, has hailed the 24-year-old’s efforts.

“Andy has been fantastic ever since he came in. I’m sure he was Man of the Match on his debut. Everyone in Scotland should be very, very proud of him,” the Liverpool icon told the Scottish FA.

“You only need to come to a game to sense the respect the punters have for him. They really enjoy watching Andy and he has his own chant already, which I know means a lot to him.

“Andy’s a quality player. He has pace, his final ball is excellent and he plays with his heart on his sleeve. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see him flying the flag for Scotland.”
