It was a year ago today that Liverpool produced one of their greatest ever comebacks in European competition, against Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.

The pairing of the sides for the Europa League quarter-final seemed like destiny, given the mutual connection of Jürgen Klopp, who had taken charge of the Reds six months earlier after seven successful years with BVB.

A 1-1 first-leg draw in Germany left the tie finely balanced – though that equilibrium was broken when Dortmund scored twice in the opening 10 minutes on Merseyside.

Divock Origi restored hope shortly after half-time, only for Marco Reus to seemingly put the game beyond Liverpool for certain with an immediate response at the other end.

Klopp’s team had other ideas, of course.
