Steven Gerrard admits he is 'absolutely steaming' to run out at Anfield once more after it was confirmed he’ll represent the Liverpool FC Legends against Real Madrid in a charity match on March 25.

The former No.8 will take to the field again in the mouth-watering encounter, which will raise funds for the club’s official charity, the LFC Foundation.

He’ll be joined by the likes of Robbie Fowler, Jamie Carragher, Ian Rush, Patrik Berger, Luis Garcia and Daniel Agger for what will be a rematch of the Corazon Classic game, which took place in June 2015 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Gerrard told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m so excited. I think it’s a couple of years since I last played at Anfield. I’ve been to a lot of games of late and I’m absolutely steaming to get out there and play against Real Madrid and with all of my ex-teammates. I’m so excited, I can’t wait for it.

I’m often asked the question what was the best buzz during your career and it was always running out at Anfield with the Liverpool shirt on in front of a full house.

“Obviously there’s a new stand involved now and hopefully we can get a lot of people there to support the Foundation because that’s the key thing here.

“It’s the main incentive. For myself and all the other players it’s the reason why we are doing it. It’s a great fixture but the key to all this is that we raise some funds, it stays in the local areas and it goes back to less fortunate people.”
